The Inspiration

At a young age it became clear that Imogen was struggling to hit many milestones in her development. Imogen was diagnosed with global development delay and was pretty much non-verbal; we had started learning Makaton when Covid arrived.

Same as much of the country did, we started baking and cooking to occupy the time and this is when the magic started!!!

Imogen became fascinated with the ingredients and started naming them. Her vocabulary started to pick up and so we turned the kitchen into our classroom. Imogen became more and more confident with speech and now speaks in almost fully intelligible sentences. Although Imogen still faces challenges, due to her delay she is less frustrated. This allowing her passion for the kitchen to shine.
